Select artwork from Artist Gali Rotstein’s collection entitled, Requiem for a Housewife, will be previewed during the Group ’08 show at Lois Lambert Gallery located at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica, CA. .” Paintings entitled “Ghost,” “Dirty Dishes,” “Cru.ci.fer,” and her latest piece, “Befuddled” will be shown. The Group ‘08 Opening Reception is Saturday, January 12, 2008 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm and runs through Sunday, March 9, 2008.

As an artist, Gali Rotstein spent years in search of what she calls “her authentic voice.” Ironically, it was her own role as a “desperate housewife” that led her to this body of work entitled “Requiem for a Housewife.” Gali began painting in black and white acrylic which expanded to mixed media. She chooses to use multiple sources of light and perspectives to create three-dimensional, multi-layered paintings. Expressing herself through painting, photography, and assemblage from her life from whatever she finds, she incorporates elements such as beeswax and children’s toys to present her whimsical and often humorous viewpoints.
