Artists Arlene Bogna and Gali Rotstein, Reminder:SBPC Surfrider Benefit TONIGHT!

This just in! Here’s a sneak peek preview of Arlene Bogna‘s write up in Art Scene with my update on her art show following and update on Artist Gali Rotstein as well. Yeah! Congratulations Arlene and Gali! You two deserve it!

More details on the South Bay Professional Connection’s Surfrider Benefit taking place tonight from 5:30pm – 8:00pm at The Shore Restaurant follows this wonderful news ok?

Arlene Bogna’s “Safari Americana” photographs make the viewer sink into a nostalgic reverie. They include color-saturated images of hulking man-made bovines standing like dumb, complacent sentinels in dark R.V. parks or empty dirt lots. They exert a strong whiff of this country’s historic car culture. She asks us to consider what it is in human nature, or the American psyche, that makes us delight in the sight of painted, three dimensional animals perched atop sign poles or hawking honey from flat bed trucks. Bogna’s images have the spontaneous feel of snapshots, yet the carefully orchestrated camera angles and artist’s repeated down-low perspective capture the sheer naive exhibitionism of the roadway animal signs.

Isn’t that a wonderful article? Click on the link above for more!

When we hit Arlene’s art exhibit this past Saturday night (lots of pix in this link) Safari Americana: Scenes of Delight it was packed when we arrived. Following are more pictures taken by Tasty Pie Pictures that are much more artistic than my style.

Just know, the pictures he took don’t accurately reflect how packed this gallery was although they’re very stunning. Apparently, this was the busiest the gallery has been all year! I’m telling you, that’s PR in action baby.

Arlene explaining Favorite The Director of the J. Paul Getty, Michael Brand, was there and checked out Arlene’s work which was rather exciting. So was Peggy Fogelman, who Arlene had spoken on a panel with earlier. Peggy is now at the Peabody Museum, but had been at The Getty prior to that which is cool. (They’re the twosome in the pix above.)

Arlene had a multi-media corner with a video of cows walking around and occasionally mooing. Then she had set up a cow bell that you could hit a button to hear ring. At one point it was so busy you couldn’t hear anything! Cow bell

You can see all the pix if you click the link above entitled Safari Americana: Scenes of Delight.

Just know, if you missed the opening, you can still catch the exhibit through July 18. Click here for a link to all the details.

Remember my other success story artist, Gali Rotstein? You’re going to be so impressed when you read about what she’s been up to since we got her into the Lois Lambert Gallery!

Gali has a show at the Finegood Art Gallery West Hills located at 22622 Vanowen Street, West Hills, CA 91307 with an Opening Reception from 2pm -4pm this Sunday the 29th. Call 818 464- 3218 for more details if you can’t read the invite as is –be there or be square!
Gali was one of 92 selected out of 2000 submissions to be in the DCA Municipal Gallery 2008 juried exhibition!!!!! Isn’t that awesome? Go Gali! For an emerging artist this is fantastic news! Check out to see more of her work ok? I believe new art is uploaded now.

Today has been a great day for my clients Arlene Bogna and The Shore! YEAH!

By Joy A. Kennelly

It ALWAYS makes me happy when people I’m working with find success because it’s very much a team effort. It’s even nicer when I honestly like the people I’m working with and would have helped them even if they weren’t paying me, although the money makes it sweeter.

My Photographer/Award-winning Filmmaker client, Arlene Bogna, just informed me today that the LA Times has picked up her Safari Americana: Scenes of Delight solo exhibit show taking place this Saturday, June 21, 2008 from 6pm – 9pm at Gallery 825 located at 825 La Cienega as one of the Art Openings to highlight.

Click here to see for yourself! Go Arlene!

Not only that, but for all your art afficiandos out there, pretty soon you’ll be reading about her in ArtScene for their July issue! Now to those who aren’t in the art world, it’s like being published in Vanity Fair for artists. ArtScene is highly selective, everyone reads it, and it’s truly an honor for her to be selected.

I’m so proud of Arlene. YEAH!!!! She has worked so hard for so long on her own. I’m glad to have been a part in her success as an artist through my publicity efforts. She is so accomplished and modest she was always a little embarrassed when I would write what I did about her, but hey, it’s the truth and needed to be said. Right?

That’s why you hire a publicist – to accentuate the positive and get the word out there! Also, to help you build your image. It’s been a very exciting time to watch our publicity efforts achieve success together.

The other good news is that our Surfrider Benefit at The Shore is getting a lot of good buzz too! The Easy Reader, our local paper, placed the story in two separate calendar sections to give it a good buzz. I loved that they called it a Tasty Benefit! Kudos to Chef Dave for creating such an awesome tasting menu. Thanks everyone at The Easy Reader! You made our day!

The Beach Reporter put our ad in The Stepping Out section of the paper which is what everybody down here reads to find out what’s the latest for the week. Very cool too!

We’re getting a lot of positive response from people in the community who want them to succeed as a restaurant which is very encouraging to me. Also, Melissa Todd, our hostess from TVLand’s She’s Got the Look TV show, who grew up in the South Bay is excited to come back and help promote Surfrider Foundation too.

In case you haven’t seen the show, I’m sure it repeats on TV Land quite frequently. Check it out. Melissa is one leggy blonde if I do say so myself! I thought I was tall, but after seeing her on the runway… She has a really good heart and is very good at hosting too.

I hope my South Bay Professional Connection event provides lots of additional opportunities for her because she deserves to find success doing what she loves.

Oh, here’s some more pictures from the Shore to entice you to come visit. I believe they’re also taken by photographer Nathan Schirmer, but will confirm later ok? ShoreBar

Oh, and almost forgot to tell you some good news re: Travel Tray & GoChi Juice too!

By Joy A. Kennelly

We’ve been pitching companies the Travel Tray as you know and yesterday I followed up with everyone. The good news to report is that I have found a company that is interested! YEAH! As soon as I know anything further I’ll keep you posted. Say a prayer this goes through because that would be very cool.

I almost forgot to tell you also, that my last GoChi Juice Tasting party was part of my friend, Sandra’s celebration of her appearance on Hell’s Kitchen which was a lot of fun. I’m including some pix here to show you our GoChi Juice tasting parties in CA. This is how we do it ala that song.:)

My friend/GoChi colleague, Deb, was my partner in crime and we had a lot of fun meeting new people and celebrating Sandra’s success. Those of you who regularly watch Hell’s Kitchen may recognize Sandra as one of the housewives who doesn’t cook. Click the link to her episode entitled “Five Chefs Compete”. Now does it ring a bell?

You may not realize it, but she’s also a very accomplished actress/model who you will definitely be seeing more of soon. Any theatrical agents – give me a call. I’ll hook you up.

Isn’t Sandra a great model? Best sandra with GoChi She absolutely loves our juice because it gives her so much more energy. Click here for all 19 health benefits of GoChi Juice that are clinically proven.

Named for the “go” in goji and chi, the ancient Chinese term for “vital life force,” GoChi contains all the goodness of Himalayan Goji Juice, and so much more!

  • Scientifically demonstrated to deliver results in as little as 14 days
  • At least 30% more bioactive LBP than Himalayan Goji Juice
  • Preservative-free
  • Certified kosher and halal

In addition, GoChi Juice will be published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine in their August issue which is a peer reviewed journal and very difficult to get into.

Entitled ‘A Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled, Clinical Study of the General Effects of a Standardized Lycium barbarum (Goji) Juice, GoChi™’, this ground-breaking study shows that GoChi can improve one’s health and well-being in 13 key areas through a daily serving of just 4 ounces, in as little as 14 days.”

Deb sharing Gochi Not only that, but we’re one of the few companies to be listed on the government’s medical site – search for GoChi Juice and see what I mean!

Now do you see why I’m so thrilled to be representing this juice along with everything else I do? It’s because of the integrity of the company and the product. Trust me. I don’t publicize things I don’t believe in.

Okay, that’s all for today. Just giving you my little GoChi Juice update because it’s very exciting. If you’re interested in buying some to see for yourself, please click here, or shoot me an email at the link above, or leave a comment.

Love to hear from you and introduce you to Free Life International and GoChi Juice.

“I think Himalayan Goji Juice is amazing. I never before believed
that I could receive such nutritional benefits from a natural
product. It’s very effective and tastes great as an added bonus.”

Decision time! Gochi girlsBack to Hell’s Kitchen.

Here’s Sandra appearance in the final contest. Isn’t she cute? She was one of the final two whose food Gordon Ramsey actually liked.

Oh, and speaking of Gordon Ramsey, have any of you had a chance to go visit The London West Hollywood that took over the old Bel Age?

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! I don’t say that lightly either. This is an ABSOLUTELY beautiful secret that I simply must share with you now. It’s only been open a little under two months and I have the inside scoop here.

Stick with me babe. I may not live in Hollywood right now, but that doesn’t mean I don’t know what’s going on.:)

We were able to take a sneak peek at the upstairs rooftop pool and mark my words, this is going to be the next hotspot and may even replace The Mondrian it’s that sophisticated with such an amazing 360 view.

The rooms are gorgeous too. Very modern, chic, sophisticated and the room we saw had the biggest bathroom and tub I’ve ever seen except maybe in Las Vegas.

Gordon Ramsey also has a restaurant on site called simply, Gordon Ramsey, of course. I love the style of the restaurant and bar. It’s simple, elegant, refined, art deco, delightful! Haven’t dined there yet, but hope to soon.

Any one care to join me? Or better yet, take me there? LOL

Okay, I think that’s all for now. Really must get some other stuff stirring. Enjoy the rest of the pix. Just think. If you join my GoChi Juice team, this could be you having fun with us! And no, you don’t have to be busty to join. LOL It just happened to be that way by accident. Not that there’s anything wrong with it.

The South Bay Professional Connection’s event at Verch Insurance Services & CA Associates!

The South Bay Professional Connection’s event at Verch Insurance Services & CA Associates!

By Joy A. Kennelly

Sorry for the delay in writing about the last South Bay Professional Connection event announcing the Grand Opening of CA Associates and Verch Insurance Services. I think I’ve been coming down with the flu which would explain why I was sleeping so much and it finally hit full bore on Monday. Today I’m finally feeling a little better which is why I’m going to attempt to write. Finally able to sit up longer than 10 minutes!

What I loved about last week’s South Bay Professional Connection event was that it really was a “Professional Connection.” A friend of mine had given me the idea of creating ice breaker questions for a contest that would help people get to know each other and those who chose to participate really enjoyed themselves.

I think a lot of people got to know people they probably wouldn’t have talked to either which was the whole purpose. It’s hard to go somewhere and try to start a conversation with someone you don’t know and this really helped. Plus, the motivation to win the goody bags we were offering sponsored by Director of Sales, Lana Leazer, and her Globiwest Hospitality Group’s Holiday Inn Express Century City and LAX helped too! Thank you Lana!

You might recognize some familiar faces among our attendees. The yellow paper was the questionnaire and included questions like what is your favorite restaurant in the South Bay? Shark’s Cove, Houstons, Chez Melange, Lido, and Blue Water Grill got a lot of kudos. People were pretty unanimous that A New Earth was their favorite book to date. Almost everyone said their favorite place to escape when not working was the beach. Of course.!:) The verches Trio Sonja counseling

We were very pleased to have Shark’s Cove MB provide amazing appetizers which really were more like a meal! They sponsored our event with some of their famous Shark Attack wraps, two wonderful salads – a Chicken, Apple & Goat Cheese Salad and a lovely Garden Salad, two delicious pastas – a Chicken penne and an alfredo penne and everyone loved it! What made this evening special to me Mccolgan wives was to see all the people who came out to celebrate the Grand Opening and to remember their son, Brent. There were people from as far away as Orange County who attended.

What was also special was to see how much love and concern this family has for the people they do business with. No wonder they’re so successful right?

Why Sonja stopped what she was doing in the middle of the party to counsel people who had driven up for career advice. Right in the middle of the party!

Every beach city was represented, all ages were represented and it was really a great success. Darold verch Thanks to all of you who attended! Great meeting you and/or seeing you again!

Now to finalize the next one! I’ll keep you posted!

Sometimes you just need to get away from it all…

By Joy A. Kennelly

I’m writing from Miami, FL where I’ve been enjoying the sun, beach and pool every day. Never knew how much I needed this brief respite until today when I actually feel 100% after a long stint of bronchitis. It’s been real nice to not think about clients or anything else but myself for once.

Not that I don’t love my clients and my work, but sometimes you just need to recharge and rejuvenate away from the day to day stuff to regain your creative juices. I’m just now, after three days here, starting to feel like I can get back to work and think about the future.

I woke up with some fun ideas I want to implement for the South Bay Professional Connection when I return which is all because I’m here in Miami. They really market this area well. I’m definitely taking notes because the South Bay can use some new marketing.

I’ve also enjoyed soaking up some of the local art deco buildings and art on display. I’ll upload images later. Did you know that Jewish settlers were the first to come to Miami? Also, the reason Mt. Sinai was created out here was because back in the day there was a lot of segregation which forced them to create this separate hospital for all the Jewish people who lived here.

It’s always fascinating to me to learn of other groups of people who experience racism and prejudice because it’s not something I normally think about not having to face it myself except for maybe my gender every so often.

There’s a Jewish synagogue museum called aptly enough, The Jewish Museum of Florida. I loved the director’s quote which I’m paraphrasing here, Even if you’re not Jewish you’ll feel a sense of family. Isn’t that sweet?

On another note, it always shocks me when people want to say the Holocaust never happened. That’s why I took the time to visit the amazing Holocaust Memorial here in the heart of South Beach that is hauntingly beautiful.

I bet you didn’t even know this existed since the nightlife so often overshadows the art that’s available here. Apparently now however, the Miami Convention & Visitor Bureau has decided to begin creating a more sophisticated image for their city and focusing more on their arts and culture than sexy nightlife.

Especially in light of the success of their popular Art Basel Miami Beach which “is the most important art show in the United States, a cultural and social highlight for the Americas. As the sister event of Switzerland’s Art Basel, the most prestigious art show worldwide for the past 38 years, Art Basel Miami Beach combines an international selection of top galleries with an exciting program of special exhibitions, parties and crossover events featuring music, film, architecture and design.

Exhibition sites are located in the city’s beautiful Art Deco District, within walking distance of the beach and many hotels.” (according to the official Art Basel Miami Beach site.)

I have loved seeing all the art deco buildings, including Versace’s mansion, and am eager to visit the Lowe Art Museum tomorrow. I know. How boring. Only me! I bet I’m one of the few singles all excited over an art museum, but I can’t help myself. It’s the way I was raised.

We would always hit all the museums in town, stay at the most inexpensive places, and then visit all the high-end resorts for a nice meal. Guess old habits are hard to break! You do see a lot more of the country when you don’t allow your finances to dictate how you enjoy yourself right? LOL

I also plan to hit the Miami Design area because I’m curious what art galleries are out here. I feel that a city’s art reflects the mood of the people which I look forward to seeing up close and personal.

Okay, that’s all for now. Just wanted to check in because I finally feel like I can breathe. I know once I get home I’ll have to hit the ground running again. But for now, am going to hit my Miami friend’s GoChi Juice tasting party and then experience a little of the nightlife with him afterwards. Should be fun and just what the doctor ordered.

Hope you have a great evening! Mark your calendars for my South Bay Professional Connection event on May 29th! You’re not going to want to miss this one!:)

Back to work with some good news!

I’ve been gone in Phoenix for the past couple of days attending the FreeLife International Convention for GoChi Juice. I recently started independently distributing it because it helped my health issue so much it was a natural for me to share it with people I thought would also benefit.

Upcoming Events

We’re actually holding an informational meeting this Thursday, April 17, at Club 705 at 12noon and 7pm. Join us!

On another note, my former client, Author Charles Zigman, who I wrote a press release for announcing the launch of his new two-volume set on WORLD’S COOLEST MOVIE STAR: THE 95 FILMS (AND LEGEND) OF JEAN GABIN, VOLUME ONE and VOLUME TWO on Jean Gabin , recently informed me that both books are now listed as the number one movie books on Turner Classics website!

Too cool Chuck! Keep us posted on your other successes. I love celebrating former client’s successes with them because it makes me feel good. We shall see what transpires with everyone else!

That’s all folks. Thanks for popping by. Oh, I’ll leave you with this. One of the guest speakers from the convention was Author Will Bowen who spoke on his book, A Complaint Free World. Now that I’ve heard him speak and am wearing his bracelet, I’m attempting to achieve this goal of not complaining for 21 days.

Here’s a little blurb from the book to help explain:

Transform your Life

Your thoughts create your world and your words indicate your thoughts. When you eliminate complaining from your life you will enjoy happier relationships, better health and greater prosperity.

Now that’s really all. Isn’t that nice to leave you with?

Happy Tuesday everyone!
